Enya contains a selection of music composed and performed by Enya for the BBC-TV documentary series The Celts. Recorded in 1986, it was not released until 1987 when the series was first broadcast. The album was remastered and reissued in 1992 as The Celts.
Released in two different versions from two manufacturer with slight packaging differences and different inserts. The Da Music edition has a simple two-sided insert whereas the Ideal Vertrieb version has a folded, four page booklet. The manufacturer statements are on the back cover left from the tracklist.
Five known versions: 01 "ENYA" in green on the front cover, CD made in Japan and peach colored, JIMCO records logo on the back cover: a) 1988: Small booklet: 3 black and 3 gray pages b) 1989: Big booklet: 3 black, 3 orange and 6 gray pages, almost identical to the JICM89001 release 02 "ENYA" in pink on the front cover, CD made in Australia and colored lavender, no JIMCO logo on the back cover, booklet with 8 pages and additional insert with Japanese lyrics: a) normal release, the samll side of the OBI strip is either white or pink b) slipcased "Merry Christmas" release
The CD has three cover versions.
A) and B) have only Enya on the cover, but the second one has smaller letters and the printing reaches both sides.
C) has the same "Enya" like A), but "Los Celtas" is added under the picture.
Originally released in longbox packaging with the CD jewelcase contained in a larger cardboard box. The table below shows the currently known USA releases and the identifying characteristics of their disc, booklet, and back insert.
